Lesson Objectives:

Students will create Word Art using Natural Forms with critical thinking in order to communicate a message utilizing tools of sketching in pencil with design in 3-D and multimedia of paper sculpture and clay.

I CAN RESEARCH using the internet, studying famous artists and by using my photography, internet research and nature.





I Can INVESTIGATE the process, developing a coherent , focused concept in a body of work composed of multiple works. 

Floral design using line, shapes and patterns, all formal elements of art seen in God’s Creative design in nature and florals. Media os pencil, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil and markers used. 


Close up Natural Forms of floral/botanical drawing skills taught then perspective for an entire scene and different viewpoints. Famous Artist Romantic Period Inspiration from Monet & VanGogh. 


Watercolor and paint techniques -the controlled drip painting technique taught and used in projects with thematic unit of study. Each quarter is the thematic unit and art is taught in units ending with a project.

Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) in drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture. The "Big Ideas" are as follows: 1. Critical Thinking and Reflection, 2. Skills, Techniques and Processes, 3. Organizational Structure, 4. Historical and Global Connections, and Innovation, 5. Technology (with artsonia app)  and the Future.

Learning Goal:

Produce a work of art through mixed media that utilizes multiple processes.

  • Explain the purpose of the activity. To use a word or words and art combined. To express yourself. Building on each week’s ideas and plans for a final project, masterpiece as well as a series composed of multiple artworks.

  • Look at the person speaking to show you are paying attention.”Tracking” the teacher during instruction so students know what to do. To remember what you started to think about last lesson and build on those skills learned.Tone modeled as we start with skill building exercises, the 5 minute warm up.
